Senior Scientist, DNA Encoded Chemistry, Library Discovery

Position
We are seeking a talented and highly motivated Scientist with a strong background in synthetic organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry and/or DNA encoded chemistry to lead our library group in the pursuit of novel small molecules to treat patients with unmet medical needs. Specifically, this individual will lead a small group whose primary focus will be to design and synthesize DNA encoded libraries and utilize these libraries to identify novel chemical matter with the potential to modulate our key targets. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in evaluating and prioritizing chemical features for hit to lead studies.

Primary Functions

A key responsibility will be to integrate with the existing medicinal chemistry team to rapidly scan outputs for drug-like hits that can be further optimized for potency, selectivity, pharmacokinetics and in vivo efficacy. As a member of a dynamic multi-disciplinary project team, this person will collaborate with a broad group of scientists within Nurix as well as with external collaborators. Additionally, they will contribute effectively to patent, report and scientific publication writing.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in synthetic organic chemistry with 8+ years industrial chemistry or medicinal chemistry experience. Experience in parallel synthesis is highly preferred.
  • High level of creativity and productivity with strong synthetic problem solving skills.
  • Excellent scientific expertise in organic synthesis and familiarity with aqueous chemistry, conversant with the current literature.
  • Proven leadership capability in cross-functional team setting, either as project team leader or co-lead.
  • Ability and interest to innovate in both library chemistry and design.
  • Solid appreciation of the sample management and logistics required for successful combinatorial library synthesis.
  • Strong skills in gathering, documenting, and analyzing information from competitive sources such as patents and meetings and using this information to guide program strategy
  • Excellent communication skills and able to present the rationale, key data, issues and accomplishments of the chemistry efforts to other members of the department.
  • Solid track record of innovation and impact on programs, with direct contributions to company pipelines (including both successful advances and smart terminations).
  • Experience in utilization of linker technology and chemical biology probes a plus

Primary Functions

The successful candidate will engage in rational structure based drug discovery enabled by our computational and structural biology group. Specifically, this individual will design and synthesize novel chemical entities optimized for potency, selectivity, pharmacokinetics and in vivo efficacy. As a member of a dynamic multi-disciplinary project team, she/he will collaborate with a broad group of scientists within Nurix and with external collaborators. Additionally, she/he will contribute effectively to patent, report and scientific publication writing.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in synthetic organic chemistry (relevant postdoctoral and/or 1-3 years pharmaceutical medicinal chemistry industrial experience is a plus)
  • Proven track record of innovative project contributions including peer-reviewed publications.
  • High level of creativity and productivity with strong synthetic problem solving skills.
  • Excellent scientific expertise in organic synthesis, conversant with the current literature.

Research Associate - Senior Research Associate, Discovery Biology

Position

We are seeking a skilled and motiviated indivuidual with expertise in cell biology and immunology to join our Discovery Biology team.

Primary Functions

The successful candidate will support early drug discovery efforts in the area of Oncology and Immuno-Oncology. These duties will include planning, execution and analysis of in vitro cellular assays to support small molecule discovery efforts and new target ID. This individual will work closely with scientists from cross-functional disciplines and present findings to project teams. The ideal candidate will be self-driven, eager to learn new techniques, highly organized, focused and will enjoy working in a creative and dynamic team environment.

Qualifications

  • For SRA: Master’s degree in Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology, or related field with 6+ years industry experience (or Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of industry experience)
  • For RA: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with 2-5 years of industry experience
  • Strong background with hands-on experience in development, optimization and execution of various immune and cellular assays including primary human cell isolation and tissue culture, ELISA, FACS, Western and multiplexing technologies (e.g. Luminex, Quantigene)
  • Demonstrated track record in functional assay development in oncology and/or immunology
  • Experience and interest in medium to high throughput screening execution to support lead development
  • Background or experience in ubiquitin biology is a plus
